Iconography Camp

So what is Iconography Camp?

One of the most beautiful aspects of our Orthodox worship is the beautiful iconography that adorns the walls of the church. Iconography Camp is designed specifically for high school-aged teens (ages 14-17, or entering the 9th grade). Iconography Camp teaches campers the basics of painting/writing icons as well as the importance of a prayerful way of life.

Mission

The mission of Iconography Camp is to strengthen the faith of participating campers through learning the Iconography of the Orthodox Church. The program is designed to give participants an opportunity to use their God-given talents for the glory of God.

Iconography Camp

July 14-22, 2024

During Iconography Camp session, campers will spend the week learning the basics of writing a traditional Byzantine icon. Iconography Camp will be taught by Kh. Erin Kimmett of Annunciation Press Icons. While artistic or drawing ability is helpful, all you need is the desire to learn more about the sacred art of Iconography. By the end of the session, campers will have completed an 8″ x 10″ panel icon.

Iconography Camp will be limited to a maximum of 7 female campers and 7 male campers. There will be a male and female counselor for each group. Campers will stay in cabins at the Antiochian Village separate from the summer campers but participate in meals and services with the summer campers.
