Winter Family Camp
Guest Speaker 2025
Dr. Greg Abdalah
Greg Abdalah, a native of the Pittsburgh area, began his college career at Duquesne Univeristy studying Music Education during which time he gained theoretical knowledge and practical experience in how children learn, ultimately graduating with a Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance.
During that time, he worked in various positions at the Antiochian Village, applying what he was learning at Duquesne. Following graduation, Greg worked as the Deanery Coordinator for the Western Pennsylvania Deanery, organizing and implementing youth programs for the Antiochian churches in the Pittsburgh area.
In 2005, Greg enrolled in St. Vladimir’s Seminary to gain the education needed to continue work in youth ministry, earning a Master of Divinity in 2008. His thesis is titled: “The Role of Youth Choirs in the Orthodox Church.” While there, he was often invited to speak at various camps and youth retreats around the US and Canada. Following graduation, he served as the Pastoral Assistant and Youth Director at St. George Antiochian Orthodox Cathedral in Worcester, MA until 2014 when he became the Youth Pastor at St. George Antiochian Orthodox Church in Phoenix, AZ where he currently serves as the Pastoral Assistant.
In 2018 he earned his Doctor of Ministry from St. Vladimir’s Seminary, focused on teaching the Divine Liturgy to our Youth. In 2020, Greg was appointed to the Doctor of Ministry faculty at St. Vladmir’s and named Assistant Professor of Pastoral Theology where he focuses on Youth Ministry. He and his beautiful bride Diana are the proud parents of Eleanor and Jonathan.
Winter Family Camp is a program that is the same as our summer Family Camp – except it’s during the winter! It is an opportunity for your family to get away from everyday life and take a weekend as a family to grow closer to Christ, in the beautiful setting of the Antiochian Village Camp. At Winter Family Camp, eating a meal together as a family is the norm, not the exception. Not your typical vacation, Winter Family Camp offers a mini-vacation without maps, lines for popcorn, or decisions over where to eat. Our flexible schedule gives you the choice of “doing it all” from praying to playing, or just taking it easy sitting around our fireplace.
Because you’re at the Village, the day is measured not so much by hours, but by prayer—the day is bookmarked with Matins and Vespers in beautiful St. Ignatius Church, with services sung by everyone present. Family Builder sessions offer practical, down-to-earth resources for keeping our families strong.
Some of our families come to meet up with families of far-away friends; others have come and made friends and come back to reunite. Either way, in addition to family time, our moms, dads and kids also enjoy meeting and spending time together.
Transportation
If you are flying into to join us for one of our camp programs. We provide a shuttle to and from the airport. In order for us to shuttle you/your family, you must schedule your transportation within these times (All times are displayed in EST):
